How can I order my own IRWT tags?

If you are a South Carolina resident, you can order IRWT tags like those shown to replace your existing tags or for a new vehicle that is not currently registered. Follow these simple directions:
To get your plates at the DMV
  1. Print out the official order form.
  2. Fill out the form (you should write "In Reason We Trust" for the type of special plate requested, and be sure to include the information about the vehicle) at home.
  3. Then bring them both to your local DMV.
  4. You will probably have to wait in line, but tell the person behind the counter that you wish to get a special "Secular Humanists of the Lowcountry" plate. (Our plate is listed on their Website as an official option. It is towards the bottom of the page at this link.)
  5. Note that there may be some confusion about whether you need to be a member of the SHL to get a plate. You do not. As you can show them on the DMV's website here, it clearly states "Although Secular Humanist of the Low Country is a membership based organization the In Reason We Trust plate is available to all SC residents.")
  6. There will be a fee of $30 for the plate and a registration fee (varies depending upon how long it has been since you last updated your registration). However, the new plate and registration will then be good for 2 years.
You should receive your new tag in a couple of weeks!
